On 01 October, the Myanmar Police Force hosted a Police Day in Nay Pyi Taw. MYPOL’s leadership, key experts and a member of the EU delegation that oversees the project were all invited to attend the reception, police fair, and official dinner to celebrate the work of the MPF.

The MYPOL team was warmly received by MPF’s leadership and the evening was a great chance to strengthen the ties between the two partners. It was also an opportunity to meet with other international partners committed to working with the MPF.

Myanmar Vice President U Myint Swe and MPF Police Chief Brigadier General Aung Win Oo. spoke at the event. The Vice President outlined the activities of the MPF and kindly acknowledged MYPOL’s work in building up the capabilities of the police in Myanmar.

The day also included exhibitions on police trainings, a tribute to fallen officers and displays showcasing the many aspects of the MPF’s work.

The members of the MYPOL team in attendance included Team Leader Ricardo Carrasco, Deputy Team Leader Azucena Martinez, Key Experts Everett Summerfield, Oliver Janser (in his traditional Bavarian attire), Petter Olofsson, Cornelius Friesendorf, and Manuel Briquet and National Advisers Khin Maung Thwin and Myint Thein, as well as EUD Project manager Anouk Van Neck.
